The Board of Adjustment hears appeals to vary or modify the application of any of the regulations or provisions of the Zoning Order related to the construction or alteration of buildings or structure or the use of land (known as a variance), determinations made by an administrative official in the enforcement of the Zoning Order, or other matters referred to the Board.

In passing upon appeals, the Board considers any practical difficulties or unnecessary hardship in carrying out the strict letter of the Chapter and ensures that the spirit of the Chapter is observed, public safety and welfare secured, and substantial justice done.

The Board of Adjustment meets on an as-needed basis. Meetings are scheduled within generally 4-6 weeks of receipt of a completed application. Please contact the Community Development Department if you have any questions regarding the Board of Adjustment.
