Building Code Sections
International Residential Code For One- And Two-Family Dwellings.
1. Adoption. The 2000 Edition of the International Residential Code for One- and Two-Family Dwellings, as published by the International Code Council including all Appendix Chapters, Tables, illustrations and additional references, is hereby adopted as the code of the City of Kearney for regulating the design, construction, quality of materials, erection, installation, alteration, repair, location, relocation, replacement, addition to, use or maintenance of one- and two-family dwellings and town houses not more than three (3) stories in height in the City of Kearney, and providing for the issuance of permits and collection of fees therefor.
2. Additions. In addition to the 2000 Edition of the International Residential Code for One- and Two-Family Dwellings, the following shall be required on all one- and two-family dwellings as follows: "In accordance with Table 3-B of the 1997 Uniform Building Code, the occupancy separation between residents (R-3) and the garage (U-1) of one (1) hour;" which shall require the installation of five-eights (€) inch type "x" fire rock on the garage walls both interior and exterior and the ceiling of the garage.
3. Amendments.
a. In the 2000 Edition of the International Residential Code for One- and Two-Family Dwellings, the following Section R314.2.1 Exception 1 shall read as follows: 1. A nosing is not required where the tread depth is a minimum of ten (10) inches.
b. In the 2000 Edition of the International Residential Code for One- and Two-Family Dwellings the following Section R314.2 the maximum riser height shall be eight (8) inches and a minimum tread depth shall be ten (10) inches.
Uniform Building Code. The Uniform Building Code, 1997 Edition Volumes 1, 2 and 3 by the International Conference of Building Officials, including the generic fire-resistive assemblies listed in the Fire Resistance Design Manual, Fourteenth Edition, dated April 1994, published by the Gypsum Association as referenced in Tables 7-A, 7-B and 7-C, Appendix Chapter 12, Division II of the specified Uniform Building Code, including all Appendix Chapters, additional references, Tables and illustrations, is hereby adopted as the code of the City of Kearney for regulating the erection, construction, enlargement, alteration, repair, moving, removal, demolition, conversion, occupancy, equipment, use, height, area and maintenance of all buildings or structures in the City of Kearney providing for issuance of permits and collection of fees therefor.
Uniform Code For The Abatement Of Dangerous Buildings. The Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings, 1997 Edition by the International Conference of Building Officials, including all Appendix Chapters, additional references, Tables and illustrations, is hereby adopted as the code of the City of Kearney for the purpose of providing a just, equitable and practicable method, to be cumulative with and in addition to any other remedy provided by the Building Code, or otherwise available by law, whereby buildings or structures which from cause endanger the life, limb, health, morals, property, safety or welfare of the general public or other occupants may be required to be repaired, vacated or demolished as referenced above.
Uniform Plumbing Code. The Uniform Plumbing Code, 1997 Edition by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, including all Appendix Chapters, additional references, Tables and illustrations, is hereby adopted as the code of the City of Kearney for regulating, and controlling the design, construction, quality of materials, erection, installation, alteration, repair, location, relocation, replacement, addition to, use or maintenance of any plumbing system in the City of Kearney providing for issuance of permits and collection of fees therefor.
Uniform Mechanical Code. The Uniform Mechanical Code, 1997 Edition by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, including all Appendix Chapters, additional references, Tables and illustrations, is hereby adopted as the code of the City of Kearney for regulating the design, construction, quality of materials, erection, installation, alteration, repair, location, relocation, replacement, addition to, use or maintenance of heating, ventilating, cooling or refrigeration systems, incinerators, or other miscellaneous systems and heat-producing appliances in the City of Kearney providing for the issuance of permits and collection of fees therefor.
Uniform Swimming Pool, Spa And Hot Tub Code. The Uniform Swimming Pool, Spa and Hot Tub Code, 1997 Edition by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, including all Appendix Chapters, additional references, Tables and illustrations, is hereby adopted as the code of the City of Kearney for regulating the erection, installation, alteration, addition, repair, relocation, replacement, maintenance or use of any swimming pool, spa, hot tub plumbing systems in the City of Kearney providing for the issuance of permits and collection of fees therefor.
National Electrical Code. The National Electrical Code, 1999 Edition by the National Fire Protection Association, including all Appendix Chapters, additional references, Tables and illustrations, is hereby adopted as the code of the City of Kearney for regulating the design, construction, quality of materials, erection, installation, alteration, repair, location, relocation, replacement, addition to, use or maintenance of electrical systems in the City of Kearney providing for the issuance of permits and collection of fees therefor.
