Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and the gathering restrictions set forth in the Clay County recovery plan at Clayhealth.com/recovery , the Kearney board of aldermen have made the difficult decision to cancel all Kearney Amphitheater events for the 2020 season. This includes the July 3rd fireworks celebration. We look forward to being able to entertain you in the summer of 2021

CCPHC PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY ORDER - Released July 1, 2020 by Gary E. Zaborac, Director of Public Health for the Clay County Public Health Center and Health Officer for the County of Clay. Although Clay County remains in Phase 2, Step 2 of recovery, the Public Health Emergency Order was amended. Includes the allowance of 100% occupancy, if masks are worn by all and physical distancing is maintained. Set to begin 12:01 A.M., July 5th, 2020 and set to expire on 12:01 A.M., Monday, July 20, 2020, unless and until it is extended, rescinded, superseded, or amended in writing.

On Monday, June 15, Although Clay County remains in Phase 2, Step 2 of recovery, the Public Health Emergency Order was amended with four changes regarding occupancy limits, mass gatherings and pools.

On Wednesday, May 27, The Clay County Public Health Emergency Order Amended 04292020 dated April 29th, 2020, is hereby amended and is set to begin 12:01 A.M., June 1st, 2020 and set to expire on 11:59 P.M., Tuesday, June 30, 2020 with insight and guidance for how the county will move forward.


The Clay County Public Health Department is the City of Kearney's designated Health Officer, and the City relies upon their public health expertise.

Tobacco 21 Ordinance adopted

The City of Kearney has joined the Tobacco 21 movement with the adoption of the attached City Ordinance 1412-2019, making it unlawful for any person to sell, provide or distribute tobacco products, alternative nicotine products or vapor products to persons under twenty-one (21) years of age.

City of Kearney Facility Closures

By order of Mayor Randy Pogue, the City of Kearney is expanding steps to ensure the health of our community, staff, and making sure we have a plan for continuity of City services in place. Beginning Tuesday, March 17, THE FOLLOWING City facilities will be closed to the public until further notice subject to the Clay County Health Center Order.

  • Kearney City Hall Lobby (Foyer Open)
  • Kearney City Museum
  • Kearney Firehouse Creative Center
  • Kearney Senior Center
  • Senior Trips Canceled
  • Municipal Court

The Kearney City Hall Foyer Doors will remain open during normal business hours. During this time, the City encourages residents to take advantage of online City services including payment of City utility bills and municipal court fines. Offices will remain open during normal business hours and staff will be available via phone and email. City Hall phone 628-4142.

The Kearney Police Department lobby will remain open during normal business hours. Offices will remain open during normal business hours and staff will be available via phone and email. Police Phone 628-3925.

The City is working across all departments and with the professionals at the Clay County Public Health Center to prevent potential spread and ensure proper measures and precautions are in place. It is important that individuals at higher risk for serious illness due to age or a long-term health problem take actions to reduce their risk.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Clay County Public Health Center offer up-to-date information on their websites and social media. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) has activated a 24/7 phone hotline for the public or providers to receive information or guidance related to COVID-19.
