FEMA has issued a public notice regarding the floodplain mapping update, which will be posted in the Kearney Courier on October 6 and 13, 2011. The public notice can be found here. Appeals, in the form of scientific and technical data, may be submitted to City Hall. The City will submit appeals directly to FEMA. After the 90-day appeal period, and resolution of any appeals, FEMA will issue a final determination.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is currently undergoing a floodplain map update for all of Clay County, Missouri. They anticipate this process will be completed by the end of 2012. The floodplain map can be reviewed online at the following link: http://12.23.244.78/ClayFPs/. Paper copies of new maps for the Kearney area are available for review at City Hall, by contacting David Pavlich, Community Development Director, at 903-4731 or dpavlich@ci.kearney.mo.us.
