The City of Kearney participates in the Regional Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Program. Kearney residents are welcome to take their household hazardous waste items to any of the region's annual mobile collection events, or to either of the two permanent collection facilities in Kansas City or Lee's Summit.

Effective July 2011 the Kansas City facility no longer requires appointments to drop off material. The new hours are Thursday and Friday: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 am – 4 p.m. The address is 4707 Deramus, just south of the Chouteau bridge. 513-8400
