Habitat for Humanity

Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable loans. The homeowners' monthly mortgage payments are used to build still more Habitat houses.

Your local affiliate can give you information on the availability, size, costs and sweat-equity requirements for Habitat houses in your area, as well as information on the application process. The Housing Assistance Program

The Housing Assistance Program (HAP) serves low income and disabled people living in the Kansas City, Missouri metropolitan area. The HAP provides information on housing options, emergency housing, transitional housing and rental subsidy programs for qualifying candidates. Participants of the HAP must meet medical disability requirements and be referred to the program by their case manager.

Missouri Association of Community Action Agencies

Missouri Department of Mental Health

DMH Housing works with all three of DMH's divisions to help link mental health services consumers to rental assistance through the Shelter Plus Care program. We also make efforts to expand housing options for mental health services consumers in the state; assist in creating partnerships between housing developers and non-profit agencies in the development of affordable rental units statewide; and work to increase rental assistance and homeownership opportunities for mental health services consumers.

Missouri Housing Development Commission

MHDC is the state's housing finance agency. The Commission is dedicated to strengthening communities and the lives of Missourians through the financing, development and preservation of affordable housing.

MHDC also provides an "Affordable Housing Locator." This locator is a service to help you find quality affordable rental housing in the state of Missouri. This service lists properties that are visited periodically by the Missouri Housing Development Commission for quality purposes because they participate in state and federally funded programs.
